Should you be worried about AI?

 Let's be honest, we've all heard something or the other related to the Rise of Artificial Intelligence which supposedly would take over the human race if prompted. There are quite a few possibilities awaiting us in the future which could be good and also according to some people could backfire at us. But the bottom line is that the world's changing; so, it's time we stay updated too.

 Will AI take over?

As a technical student myself, I've been really thrilled with the concept of Artificial Intelligence. The very idea of having man-made robots think and act like humans seems pretty impossible if you had thought about it a couple of years back. But as of now, it seems really weird if I even think about the fact that there exists a software that can literally write a blog for the same topic without having to think about it. (Trust me, this isn't AI generated. I've written this myself!)

ChatGpt is gaining traction day by day and though some software engineers feel its threatening as to what the AI is capable of, others believe it's actually made their job easier and they won't be replacing humans, at least not anytime soon.

But that being said, there's no doubt about the fact that AI could be dangerous. Well, no robot is going to come charging at you with a gun for no reason if that's what you're worried about. It's just that they are programmed to finish a given job and if you or the human race for that matter seems like a potential threat to complete the task, they are not likely to have second thoughts about getting you out of the way which is actually not a good thing.

There isn't any certainty about the fact that AI will take over. Some people believe that it will happen sooner or later while others seem pretty doubtful about it. 

AI still lags behind humans. For example, scientists have managed to teach AI to pass standardized eighth grade exams, but it is yet to pass a college level entrance exam. They still lack the ability to make moral decisions and learn through experience unlike human beings. 

 Is AI necessary?

Now, it's quite obvious for anyone to think if Artificial Intelligence is actually necessary considering the threat it supposedly possesses to mankind. But the future without AI is still a hard path to walk.

AI enables human traits like reasoning, planning and communication to be undertaken by the software efficiently and at a low cost. It also helps in finding patterns in data and automation. And most importantly, it forms the very foundation of computer learning.
